The band formed in the dark days of 2020 and was quickly signed by Heavy Psych Sounds, who released Ultra in the fall of 2021, establishing the band's penchant for crushing doom riffs and haunting vocals accented by bursts of psychedelic flair and swampy Americana swagger.
And while the chemistry between longtime friends Garrett Zanol (guitar/vocals), Ian Nelson (bass) and Chase Howard (drums) was evident upon hearing their debut, their cohesion was further strengthened by relentless touring across the western U.S. and a month-long European tour. The trio immediately began looking ahead, testing and crystallizing the songs that would make up the follow-up, for which the band once again teamed up with Ultra producer Dawson Scholz. The result is Umbra: a unique statement that is more focused and cohesive than its predecessor, while capturing the immersive, free-flowing experience of their live show.
