Tasteful prog rockers who have heard the name Spock's Beard should also be able to relate to singer Ted Leonard, drummer Jimmy Keegan, bassist Dave Meros and songwriter/keyboardist John Boegehold, who now realize Boegehold's compositional vision in particular as Pattern-Seeking Animals Almost a year after their self-titled debut, album number two "Prehensile Tales" follows, which offers a fascinating, playful, but always irresistibly catchy mixture of prog, rock and pop, not only in the outstanding long tracks. Crowned by great vocal melodies and a fantastic sound from Rich Mouser, you can definitely believe bassist Dave Meros when he says he liked the debut, but everything came together better and more coherently on "Prehensile Tales." "We went more wild on the instrumentation side," he agrees with producer and main songwriter John Boegehold. "By using violin, flute, trumpet, cello, saxophone and pedal steel, we've significantly increased our musical footprint!"
