Svartalvheim (CD)
This is exactly how I like my traditional black metal to sound. GRANDIOSE AS FUCK! These songs all evoke the mysteriousness of Pagan lore and Norse mythology. A sense of being in an ancient forest ready to spill the blood of your enemies for honour or something like that. Whatever the style of black metal (atmospheric, traditional, raw, depressive, war, symphonic, melodic, etc.), a good release should bring out feelings like that and ignite the imagination. This album does it in spades for me. I've heard some less than glowing comments geared towards their other releases, but this one here is absolutely right as rain.
