The Harrowed was formed in the outback Australian city of Broken Hill by rhythm guitarist Ricky Boon. Ricky is the main songwriter and remarkably has been blind for a number of years. The Harrowed originally went under the moniker Fury, and have released five independent CD's under that name. Over those early years Ricky enlisted members to help him create the band that he envisioned. Through various incarnations, The Harrowed's style has progressively evolved, beginning as a thrash band with power metal influences and steadily growing more intense as members appeared who could do justice to Ricky's riffs. Darren McLennan's melodic shredding and well-crafted lyrics, Ricardo Vozzo's intricate driving drumming, Daniel Wall's concise bass playing, and the uncompromising vocals of Mick O'Neil, have created a formidable force in modern thrash metal. Now located in Adelaide, South Australia, the current line up continuously strives to refine their diverse musical styles, with members bringing his intensity to the music of The Harrowed. Their debut CD for Massacre Records - Forbidden Art - contains eight brutal tracks blending old and new school thrash with touches of death metal. Subtle intricacies in timing and aggressive riffs are blended with engaging melodies and provocative lyrics to create an album which stands alone in the metal scene for it's creativity and integrity.
