'Melodic Doomed Metal' is how the Southern German based quartet descibes their sound and since 2002 they call themselves Doomshine. Early 2003 e Doomshine opened the (meanwhile legendary) Doom Shall Rise-Festival, without having released a single song before. In August of the same year Metal Supremacy released a 7" vinyl single entitled 'Shining in Solitude', including the two songs 'Shine On Sad Angel' and 'Where Nothing Hurts But Solitude'. Straight after Doomshine signed with Iron Glory Records, who released the highly acclaimed debut album 'Thy Kingdoom Come' in the summer of 2004. As Iron Glory finished business in 2005 Doomshine signed with Massacre Records who distributed the debut and recognized the big potential and great sales results the band got. Nobody knew by then that it would take five years to have the next album out... but we are talking about doom metal here, right? The new opus is entitled 'The Piper At The Gates Of Doom' which surely brings to mind the Pink Floyd debut of 1967 but musically again pure DOOM. Maybe not that classical as expected - the vision of open minded, nowadays doom may not suit every old-school doomer but proves the non-conformity of the band. But lyrically the darker shades of mankind are getting featured of course. Who gets more into them will find instad of clichee moaning critical and even cynical lyrics. Next to nine new band compositions the album includes a cover tune "Vanished" originally by Mirror Of Deception, showing the loyality within the doom scene. As for the debut Doomshine-guitarist Carsten Fisch again took care for the recordings, the mix and even the cover artwork by himself! Only the mastering was given in the proven hands of Andy Horn at the Red Room. Doomshine march slowly towards their 10th anniversary and can look back proudly even with only two album releases so far. As they always clearly state the basement of Doomshine (even more than their love for music) is the meanwhile 20-year friendship of the four which guarantees a steady lineup for the coming times!
