A solid country rock album by the father of country rock, Gene Clark.
The late Tom Petty made a career of following in his footsteps, his vocal delivery especially, was an almost carbon copy of the Byrd's founding member. This being his first proper solo album shows the direction he was intent on pursuing, and a very nice laid back course it is that he steers.
His melancholic harmonica throughout gives the record a real taste and feel of Americana, long before the term was ever coined.
