Doug Boyle's first solo album is a celebration of what he has learnt from a life immersed in music. First coming to prominence as guitarist with Robert Plant's band for many years, Boyle has played Zeppelin with their singer, Bach, Hendrix and Duke Ellington with Violinist Nigel Kennedy as well as joining the resurgent Caravan. Countless tours and albums with these artists has honed his skills and sensibilities, resulting in his definitive statement of music without boundaries. The Third rail.
Apart from his trademark soaring and emotional guitar voice, the album reveals Boyle's assets as a composer, arranger and producer. The music ranges from out and out agression to pastoral tranquility, melodic and harmonic sophistication to pure childlike simplicity and all points between. Joining him on his quest for an authenticly human expression are musicians such as the legendary Jimmy Hastings, Dave Sinclair and the late great, Pip Pyle.
