Old Friends, Familiar Faces And New Acquaintances (CD)
Originally called the RHYTHM AND BLUES QUARTET, the initial line-up featured DAVIS on guitar, and the WINWOOD brothers STEVIE (vocals & keyboards) and MUFF (bass), together with drummer PETE YORK. The SPENCER DAVIS GROUP hit it big with SOMEBODY HELP ME - a #1 hit - followed by WHEN I COME HOME, and KEEP ON RUNNING. By 67 the group had 2 more huge hits: GIMME SOME LOVIN' and I'M A MAN. In 1970 SPENCER DAVIS relocated to America where, in 1984 he recorded a solo album, CROSSFIRE, with an eclectic ensemble of fine guest artists such as: DUSTY SPRINGFIELD, FLO and EDDIE, and BOOKER T. JONES. That entire album is featured here, as well as new original songs, and re-recordings or live versions of classic SPENCER DAVIS hits.
