Liber Unum (CD)
Formed in 2010, Albuquerque's Skulldron have been playing their distinct blend of doom metal and stoner rock. When not shaking the foundations of venues throughout New Mexico and beyond, Skulldron found the time to record some killer music. The result is Liber Unum (Latin for "one book" or "one child"), a skull-smashing blend of old-school doom metal dragged into the modern era with a blend of southern-styled stoner rock. The end result is an album that will satisfy doom hounds and those searching for modern vibes with killer riffs and aggressive melodies.

Skulldron
The band kicks things off with a real scorcher, "The Flower and the Disease," which channels the sound of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Black Sabbath, complete with a monstrous guitar riff, some blues-driven percussion, and the infernal lungs of vocalist Ray Cordova. Next up is "Black Sapphire Moon," which busts out the stoner metal, with guitarists David Baca and Alex Garcia setting down some infectious grooves driven by some epic structures, some of which reminded me a little of Monster Magnet!
