On February 27, 1976, Deep Purple played a legendary concert at the Long Beach Arena in California. With "Long Beach 1976 (2016 Edition)" the mastered version of the live recording is now available on two CDs or three LPs.
The performance was first released in 1995 under the title "King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents: Deep Purple in Concert". 2009 followed a new version of the live album under the title "Live at Long Beach 1976".
Long Beach 1976 (2016 Edition)" features Deep Purple's Mark IV line-up, consisting of singer David Coverdale, guitarist and vocalist Tommy Bolin, keyboardist Jon Lord, bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes and drummer Ian Paice. This line-up, for the first time without Ritchie Blackmore, only lasted from 1975 to 1976 and only produced one studio album.
