The Night Creeper = LP = (LP)
Huge fan here. And while I do enjoy Uncle Acid's latest offering (in its delicious violety-purple 2xLP format) , it's unfortunately their first album, in my opinion, to not take much of a step forward. With the exception of (oddly) some of the "softer" material, it's very tried, true, and safe this time around without much of the notable shift that showed the growth and progression between the three previous records. To some degree, it actually very much feels like a kind of mix-and-match between all three, bonded appropriately by the production... which is considerably dry. It fuzzes and crunches well, but some more low end would've been nice.
All in all, if you're an enjoyer of "more of the same," you very likely shouldn't be let down. However, if you thought Blood Lust was a step up from Vol. 1, and thought Mind Control was a step up from Blood Lust, you may find yourself rather jaded by this album. Those who thought Mind Control to be too far of a departure from Blood Lust should feel fairly at-home with this album. But there are those of us who preferred Mind Control's musical growth and diversity that helped it stand on its own without so much reliance on holding on too tightly to the whole "Sabbath crutch," regardless of how fantastic a breakthrough album Blood Lust was/is.
