"Tony Joe" was the third studio album by "Swamp Fox" Tony Joe White, which was released in 1970 the year he toured Europe as the opening act for Creedence Clearwater Revival. It featured the singles "High Sheriff Of Calhoun Parrish", "Save Your Sugar For Me" and "Groupy Girl."
Tony Joe White wrote some immensely popular songs in the seventies and was well known for his unique deep bass voice and funky guitar south gumbo style. Not many were as adept at performing and songwriting as Tony Joe White with his fine Flair for sharp narrative lyrics
In fact, his Swamp Songs proved to be surprisingly universal and have been re-recorded by everyone from Elvis Presley and Tina Turner to Dusty Springfield and Rory Gallagher.
