Swedish prog rock legends THE FLOWER KINGS are back with the latest work in their 25-year history, "By Royal Decree."
The group's third studio album since the addition of drummer Mirko DeMaio and keyboardist Zach Kamins to the lineup is a classic affair in many ways. With virtually no touring in the past two years, the band has been able to focus entirely on recording new material, as well as reworking things that were on the floor during previous sessions. Flower Kings vocalist and guitarist Roine Stolt says of working on the new record, "It's been great to lift up this old treasure island of 'forgotten TFK music before TFK even existed,' and revisiting it has made me realize why and what THE FLOWER KINGS are. This album is a journey through my history as a writer and my 'middle-age' saga reflecting on that." Another significant change is that founding member Michael Stolt returns after more than two decades to contribute bass and vocals, sharing duties with current bassist Jonas Reingold.
