Some Girls (CD)
After Exile on Main Street, The Rolling Stones gathered too much moss: dithering albums, lackluster singles ("Angie," "Fool to Cry," "It's Only Rock n' Roll [But I Like It]"), drug trials, excessive touring. Apparently inspired by the burgeoning punk movement in England at the time, Some Girls finds the Stones revitalized for whatever reason. Only a few of the tracks even hint at punk ("When the Whip Comes Down," "Lies," "Respectable," and "Shattered"), but they have more drive than anything since Exile's "Rip This Joint."
