Cass Elliot / Road Is No Place For A Lady = Remastered 2 CD = (CD)
Cass Elliot's public image often obscured the fact that she was an astoundingly exquisite singer, and one wonders where she might have taken that talent had she not passed so young. This set combines two of her solo efforts, 1971's Cass Elliot and 1972's The Road Is No Place for a Lady, in one package, with three bonus tracks tossed in to round things out a bit. It makes for an excellent introduction to Elliot's post-Mamas & the Papas career and includes gems like her versions of Judee Sill's "Jesus Was a Cross Maker," Randy Newman's "I'll Be Home," and Albert Hammond's "(If You're Gonna) Break Another Heart." This lady sang with all of her heart, and the proof is here.
