Chaos A.D. = Reissue = (CD)
Chaos A.D. saw Sepultura moving away from their thrashier sound without getting too Korny, and utilizing elements of Brazilian music in ways revisionists assert they didn't do until the much-inferior Roots. Its anthemic simplicity shines a brighter spotlight on the band's political message (it really could be the soundtrack to a revolution), and despite its lack of speed and overt-technicality, it doesn't feel one iota less fierce than any prior Sep release. It is, in my opinion, the last truly great Sepultura release, and the album that the majority of Sep and Soulfly material since has most-tried to emulate. It is, in a word, a titan.
