Split CD (CD)
Trumans Water kicks off the split album with the short song "We Fish". The American band from Portland (established in 1991) delivers us three short noisy and punky indierock songs in the tradition of early Sonic Youth and a remix of "We Fish". No wonder they already worked together with Thurston Moore in the past. These songs are unreleased tracks somewhere recorded in 2005 or 2006 and the first signs of life after their last album 'You are in the line of fire and they are shooting at you' from 2003. The third one "Can't Taste It" is embellished with a saxophone sound to annoy and bring the listener even more noise. The remix of "We Fish" differs not that much from the original version; it only has more feedback in it. Totally different is the avant-garde postrock of Italian Rosolina Mar. Their first three instrumental songs are almost jam sessions. It even goes into the direction of Portland's Grails works on 'Burning off Impurities' minus the Eastern influences. The Italians are using the same approach with blending progressive and psychedelic influences into their postrock. The last song of Rosolina Mar is also a remix; Claudio Rocchetti has reconstructed "Mingozo Di Mongozo" from the 2006 album 'Before and After Dinner' to an ambient meets noise song. It's totally different in contrast with the original style.
