Swing Swing (CD)
Syme is an excitingly fresh and energetic band that started in Bergen, Norway in the Fall of 2002.
In recent years, Bergen has set its mark on the music industry both nationally and internationally. Some of Norway's most innovating bands have come out of this rainy, yet beautiful city.
Syme has been named the most interesting new live act in the Bergen Times newspaper. The band writes their music together, and the result has been described as explosive kraut-rock, post-rock, electro-rock, balm for stressed souls, psychedelic and beautiful. In a rhythm and bass driven landscape, they play with noise, soft vocals and strong melodies. Their live shows are unafraid.
After winning the Live Bergen Zoom Music Fest in late 2003, 2004 saw the release of their debut EP titled Planetarium. In February 2005 Syme released their first full album Swing Swing to great reviews. It was recorded in a live studio setting in the legendary rock club Hulen in Bergen. The electronica artist and acclaimed sound engineer Kjetil "io" Aabø helped record and produce the album. Songs from the album can be heard on student and national radio stations. Of interest, the album contains a bonus animated music video, Planetarium (made by Aslak Helgesen), which is now airing on Norwegian television. It was also shown at the Bergen International Film Festival (BIFF) and won a first price at the national competition for graphic designers in Norway 2005.
