Riding With The King (CD)
Riding With the King continued Hiatt's mix of styles along the new-wave bandwagon, with the bluesy urban-rock "I Don't Even Try, the straight blues-rock "Death By Misadventure", the country-ish power-pop "Girl On A String", the blues-pop "Lovers Will", the solemn folk-rock "She Loves The Jerk", the flat-out power-pop "Say It With Flowers" etc. Side two offered a slightly rawer sound, with a purer form of blues in "Riding With The King", the blues/soul "Love Like Blood", the passionate 60's flavoured anthem "The Love That Harms", the calypso "Falling Up", and even flirting with the existential lounge of Rickie Lee Jones in "Book Lovers".
