Hot Pants (CD)
"The Hardest Working Man In Show Business" comes alive again as an artist with this album, the first James Brown has recorded since signing with Polydor Records in 1971
The "Hot Pants" lineup reunited James with some of his longtime companions like Bobby Byrd, drummer John "Jabo" Starks, saxophonist St. Clair Pickney and trombonist Fred Wesley. The first side of the album opens with the swampy "Blues & Pants" with its incessant guitar riff and a great horn arrangement by Fred Wesley
The big revelation of this album is the full-length "Escape-ism," which runs over 19 minutes. The original album ends with his reissue of "Hot Pants (She Got To Use What She Wants)," one of James Brown's best-known grooves and chart-toppers.
