High Decibels (CD)
Although 77 hail from Spain, you would never guess as much, and without beating around the bush, I'd bet that you, like I, would guess they come from Australia. Soundwise, you could compare them to Airbourne, if Airbourne were around about 35 years ago. From the moment you press play and hear the first few chords, you know there's gonna be some rockin'. Sure the music and the style are dated, (rather precisely at 1975-76 in fact), but it's good, fun, old school rock & roll, and regardless of what some of the other reviewers here would say, I maintain that rock & roll ain't noise pollution. The guitarists are as tight and as in tune with each other as two Young brothers, with the lead guitarist breaks in particular marking him out as a real live wire. In bands like this the singer is often the problem child, however here the vocals, whilst quite high pitched, are strong and ideal if you are going to be a rock & roll singer. There's no doubt about it, he's very good, or as our French cousins would say, Tres Bon!
