A band with such a breadth of influence and decades of discography behind them finally manage to live up to their name. I suppose if Incantation's style and atmosphere had not been copped, raped and strangled by every retro death metal band under the sun this would be a more exciting treat. All things considered, the old relics pull off a pretty sweet set of jams. Not since "Blasphemy" has the band been this heavy, and probably not this thoughtful since the second album. The doom/death sections are fully realised here and generally the album's greatest moments. If there was ever a good time to call it quits and/or completely veer off in a more interesting musical direction... this would be a good point-of-pivot.
