Sort of an in-between, expanding offering for the band. Not as raw and heavy as 'The Warning,' but at the same time the songwriting gets more in-depth and advanced. The band is able to bring those two aspects together on the following release. Some slower, more methodical tunes on this album, which I guess is how a lot of people see Queensryche---deep, with mood-inspiring songs. Has a very technological feel, in the song arrangements, vocals, and guitars. An extremely distinctive sound, and one that the band will never repeat again. In that respect, this was (and still is) a bit of a groundbreaking album in the progression of metal music. There are some absolutely spine-tingling tracks here, with the perfect mixture of voice, guitar, and effects creating an atmosphere that is new to the scene.
