Roqueforte, first Aranis work for AltrOck, confirms the creative vein of the flemish ensemble conducted by Joris Vanvinckenroye, contrabass player and composer, already widely showed by the previous albums: an intelligent and winning synthesis of acoustic sound, minimalism and folk, but with the taste and pulse of a rock band, in this occasion emphasized by the presence in the line-up of Dave Kerman (Thinking Plague) on drums and Pierre Chevalier (Univers Zero, Present) on piano. As in a fanciful gastronomic journey, Roquefort mixes heavy flavours and dreamy atmospheres, virtuosity and lyricism, intricate rhythms and references to distant and far ages.
