Neverness III : The measure of time (CD)
NEVERNESS is a spanish band created in 1998, and "Cuentos De Otros Mundos Posibles" (2007) is its second album. Published on the Musea label, it offers six complex pieces (Spanish singing), clearly influenced by the Progressive rock and hard-rock music of the Seventies (KING CRIMSON, DEEP PURPLE or PINK FLOYD, amongst others...), with also some psychedelic hints, and including a taste for semi-improvised sequences. Here you have a powerful and contrasted music, full of tension, with acid and numerous, often heavy, guitar parts on the foreground. In the Spanish contemporary scene, NEVERNESS has something very special and organic in the sound, not unlike some south-american bands. An excellent, genuine work ! Published in the year 2009, "The Measure Of Time" is certainely not intended to change NEVERRNESS' universe. That said, this third album marks a certain evolution, with compositions much more personal and mature. Mostly instrumental, the six long titles are also reinforced by the inclusion of English lyrics. Excellent !
