Apocalypso (CD)
Third album, and perhaps their best as well. 11 tracks from this quartet, featuring ex ARTI + MESTIERI members. No guitars, but plenty of rhodes piano, flutes, and saxes. With "Apocalypso" ESAGONO is one again opening up universes of sound long unavailable to music lovers. Rock-solid in substance, elegant in form, graphically provocative and apocalyptic in intent it sweeps away the pretentious mannerism that, despite a new millennium, continues to plague the field and its composerperformers.
Apocalypto gives us strong, sincere emotions. The album's eleven tracks seem to coalesce somewhere beyond professional experience of the members of the band, combining all the suggestions of a
past that is especially pertinent today. This excellent album is capped with an hoomage to Ennio Morricone: "Metti una sera a cena" in an new version unleashes a wild frontier fascination without loosing any charm of the original version.
