Something right off the bat that is noticeable is the clean production, yet an atmosphere that is more haunting and evil sounding than presented in the early albums. A lot of this probably takes influence from King Diamond's many solo albums that were dropped within the late '80s and early '90s. Every track has a dark sensation to it, as if taken straight from a horror movie. As always, this is achieved with the falsetto shrieks and deeper shouts from King Diamond's vocal work, combined with creepy riffs and effects on keyboards. The King never fails to create that atmosphere, and does an extra outstanding job on the title track and "My Demon". Although what really drives this home are the really melodic parts on my favorite tracks, "Nightmare Be Thy Name", and "Angel Of Light". The way that the vocals are delivered in those two tracks are beautiful in how smooth yet chilling they are.
