In the aftermath of punk, Leeds's Gang of Four coined the funky, choppy sound of "post-punk", which informed such latter-day pop giants as Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party. Although their prime movers, Jon King (singer/conscience) and Andy King (groovy guitarist), have reunited before, Content is their best record since the late-Seventies, packed with savagely danceable riffs and rousingly incisive lyrics about consumerism, domestic fragmentation and political resistance.
