It's great to see Bobby Kimball back in the line-up after an absence of 17 years. The scratchy and passionate nature of his singing sets him apart from the singers who were in the band after "Toto IV". Kimball is accompanied by guitarist Steve Lukather, keyboarders David Paich and Steve Porcaro, bassist Mike Porcaro and Simon Phillips on drums Most of the songs on "Mindfields" are over 5 minutes long and move between different genres from pop-rock to world music, jazz- fusion to blues-rock "Mindfields" is an album of instrumental and vocal virtuosity that took the band Toto from the youthful path of video clips in the 1980s to the highway of today's adult arena rock.
