This is always good and mostly brilliant. The electric sides in particular - rough mixes though they may be (I can't hear any studio slickness.....) - showcase the talents of the likes of Phil Beer and Julie Matthews to great effect, with the standout track (among a selection of real goodies) for me being the Hutchings-composed "Yellow Dress" and Julie Matthews' magnificent "Go North". Lots of other good stuff - and the "trad Arr." reels rock like anything. Despite the cringeworthy lyrics, I even like "Paddle your own canoe" with its glorious rockabilly mandolin solo. The accoustic tracks pale a little compared to the full electric stuff, but are still excellent with Julie Matthews' wonderful voice at its most gutsy.....
