You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 3 = 2 CD = (CD)
Not least to stand up to the bootleggers, frank Zappa published between 1988 and '92 with the "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore" series a compendium of his numerous live recordings. Volume 3 is dedicated primarily to his bands of the early the early 1980s, with guitarists Steve Vai and Ike Willis, bassist Scott Willis, bassist Scott Thunes and drummer Chad Wackerman. Through Zappa's elaborate zappa's elaborate editing of parts, however, Zappa collaborators from earlier periods can also be heard (George Duke, Roy Estrada and others)
The material on CD-1 comes from albums of the late '70s and early '80s: "Sheik Yerbouti", "Joe's Garage" or "You Are What You Is". CD-2 contains older repertoire: "King Kong" enriches Zappa in his usual virtuoso way with 'umpteen quotes: including John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" and Rossini's "William Tell". The 25-minute version of "Zoot Allures" is edited together from two shows in Japan (1976) and France (1982). Another highlight is the 1973 original version of "Dickie's Such An Asshole." Exclusive tracks on the 2-CD album are "Ride My Face To Chicago,""Carol You Fool,""Nig Biz" and "Chana in de Bushwop" (featuring Zappa's daughter Diva Zappa).
