Joni's voice is on fire in this album or to be more accurate, it was on fire and then soaked in ice cool vodka that is this album. This has moments of such seductive power in the vocals department. She has subtly changed her pristine voice into a smooth jazz like instrument which matches her guitar playing. Her lyrics are still quite beautiful, descriptive, seamlessly humorous, self aware and just very intelligent. The melodies remind me of her early work while the instrumentation is minimalist and nocturnal. At only nine songs, it's actually a complete sounding record. Track lengths are mostly over 5 minutes, a perfect album to immerse yourself in.
