Relix IV = Digipak = (CD)
Overkill is the alpha and the omega of thrash metal. With a career spanning over two decades and 14 full-length albums, Overkill has remained a constant in the metal genre it helped define. ReliXIV is the bands thirteenth full-length studio album from 2005, a year which marked the twenty-year anniversary of Overkills debut, Feel the Fire. RelixIV, a ten-song collection explores and explodes through their twenty-year history of metal, thrash, groove and the like. RelixIV, is an aggressive standout through their metal journey. The band delivered yet another great album, picking up right where they left off, staying true to the chunky thrash metal they've forged for virtually their entire careers. This disc is not as through-and-through attacking as the previously-released Killbox 13, instead sporting a slightly thicker feels in places. This does not stop it from being a tasty release, with plenty of tracks that will slay when played live. The chunky and building Keeper has a cranking chorus, with Wheelz being a steady and methodical treat. A Pound of Flesh is fast and thrashy, with The Mark following suit. The Ace has some dark grinding, all of Within Your Eyes, Love, and Loaded Rack, are good. Closing with the Motorhead-like anthem Old School, Over Kill give a list of their achievements and state their allegiance in no uncertain terms. The new digipak edition is limited to 1000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process, released on a golden disc.
