Killbox 13 = Digipak = (CD)
Overkill is the alpha and the omega of thrash metal. With a career spanning over two decades and 14 full-length albums, Overkill has remained a constant in the metal genre it helped define. The self-proclaimed Wrecking Crew released a handful of albums on quintessential metal label Megaforce Records in the early 80s. Killbox 13 is the bands twelfth studio album from 2003. Overkill can best be summed up in one word: Consistancy. You can always count on them to produce an album which stays (for the most part) true to their roots while experimenting with new styles here and there. And yet again the band refuses to shed its thrash roots. The combination of the band's stellar riffs and rock-solid arrangements with Colin Richardson's thick, beefy production is a big, juicy steak waiting to be devoured by any self-respecting carnivore metalhead. As usual, the band's balance of in-the-pocket groove-consciousness (Crystal Clear) and technical musicianship the tempo changes and guitar solos are present, but not indulgent give Overkill the undeniable blue-collar street cred that's smart and steely, and deflects any criticism with yet another back cracking riff off the top ropes. With this album Overkill do not really innovate nor step far away from what they've always been a straightforward classic thrash metal but thats how fans like so much about them. Its a modern thrash metal masterpiece that succeeds in both stroking that seminal fire and moving the band into the new century. The new digipak edition is limited to 1000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process, released on a golden disc.
