Soulfully in the city of angels (DVD)
This show was set up as a special DVD recording (also available: FR DVD 006). Joining him on stage are guitarists JJ March and George Nastos, keyboard player Ed Roth and none other that Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) on drums, with Kevin Dubrow (Quiet Riot) and Alex Ligertwood (ex-Santana) helping out with the backing vocals. As on "Burning Japan", Hughes plays classics from Deep Purple, Trapeze and Hughes/Thrall, along with some more recent solo stuff. There are great, lengthy versions of "Coast To Coast" (great keyboards by Roth), "Mistreated" (with Marsh doing his best Blackmore imitation), "You Keep On Moving", "Getting' Tighter" (probably the funkiest version ever) and other landmarks of his catalogue.
