bigail's Ghost, originating from Louisiana, are a young, fresh sound on the progressive rock scene. They are occasionally compared to Porcupine Tree with their own twist. Although they only have two albums out, they are not too green performing live and just released a live DVD of their May 2, 2009 performance at the Rites of Spring festival (Glenside, PA). They filed onto stage with lead singer/guitarist "Bones" Theriot riding the back of rhythm guitarist Randy LeBoeuf. You knew right then and there you were in for a ride. These boys from Louisiana know how to keep things interesting... The high energy and sensuality that I remember feeling from being there live very easily transfers to the live DVD with its up-close and personal shots of each member including back views of passionate drummer John Rodrigue. This is a crisp video shoot, sometimes going in and out of color for effect. I hardly remember there being visual effects on a screen behind the band, so this DVD gives me that new experience.
