Ancient Stone (CD)
Ringing Ring is a present Japanese band that recorded "Ancient Stones" in the year 2007. Jointly published by the Musea Parallèle and Poseidon labels, this album presents Renaissance and Baroque music. Here's a collection of short pieces, mainly instrumental, composed by Marin Marais, Josquin Des Prez or John Dowland among others, also including Irish traditional music. The whole is played with ancient instruments: lutes from different periods, theorbe, recorders, viola da gamba... It's surprising to see how Japanese musicians succeeded in capturing the very special spirit of this music. An excellent discovery for all traditional music lovers!
