This 7" marks a new series of releases for Boris, as they embark upon a run of three singles for Southern Lord, and the first installment ensures a flying start: '8' is unbelievably good, soaring into hair-raisingly anthemic power-pop/heavy metal stylings, the like of which almost certainly hasn't been heard since 1991. Despite all the screeching, air-pumping histrionics however, the Japanese band somehow preserve their cool - in fact, if anything they seem marginally more awesome than ever before. 'Hey Everyone' is a little more laid back but retains the squealing, feral guitar lines and that general air of casual pomp. Magnificent.
