Taking their name from a Chuck Berry song, Jo Jo Gunne was formed in 1971 by Jay Ferguson and Mark Andes, respectively the lead vocalist and bass player of the legendary band Spirit, one of Los Angeles most influential bands. Jo Jo Gunne hit immediately with the single 'Run Run Run', a Top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic, followed by 'Shake That Fat'. The band went on to release four successful albums, all featuring a satisfying mix of 1970s boogie and rock, as also practiced by the likes of the Doobie Brothers and the Allman Brothers during this period. All four hard-to-find albums are now gathered together here in one package, with annotation by Alan Robinson.
