The band that arguably provided the inspiration for black metal, as well as for bands like Metallica and Slayer, Venom are the undisputed pioneers of the genre. This 2006 set, the title of which neatly reverses that of their 1982 sophomore release, cements their reputation with tracks like the grinding "House of Pain," the ear-splitting, hard-rocking "A Good Day to Die," and the careering twin kick-drum attack of "Antechrist." The band's message, unchanged over three decades--all pain, no gain. And, by the way, your soul still belongs to Satan.
