Guitarists Marty Friedman and Jason Becker formed the first duel shred guitar-driven progressive metal band, Cacophony in 1987. Soon afterward, they embarked on individual solo albums, each featuring stunning shred guitar instrumentals.
Perpetual Burn was Jason's first solo record which is to this day is regarded by many guitar fans as one of the top 5 best shred guitar albums of all time.

As a result of his phenomenal guitar work with Cacophony and David Lee Roth, together with his groundbreaking solo records, Jason earned an international reputation for being one of the best composer/guitarists to emerge from the legendary Shrapnel shredding scene.
