Door = Digipack = (CD)
Brooklyn's Religious Knives further ground their roiling writhings of noise and chant with steady, kraut-rock grooves on their second full-length LP, which was co-produced by Thurston Moore. Two of the Knives were in Double Leopards, whose improvisatory sound-swirls sometimes ambled aimlessly, but the Knives have caged that anarchic tendency. Tracks like "On a Drive" do indeed drone and meander, but there's a doom-laden percussive skronk keeping it in check. "Downstairs," with its organ and cryptic poetry, is as close as they'll get to playing a Doors song, but they make it their own with some warped vocal chanting and a consistent, funky backbeat.
