Crucifix In A Horsehoe (CD)
A Vertigo label collectable is the basis of our fourth collection of Paul Jones recordings, an intriguing mix of country, jazz and blues rock, from the progressive era. Recorded in the US with producer Ted Cooper a fine array of musicians backed Jones (essentially the collective who recorded as White Cloud) on a mix of originals and some notable covers. Highlights include Loudon Wainwright's Motel Blues and Artie Resnick's The Mighty Ship As a bonus, discovered in the tape vaults, we have six surviving tracks recorded in the UK at Morgan studios for a commissioned follow up but which remained unreleased. This time UK jazz rockers backed Paul, including Dave MacCrae , Gary Boyle, Roy Babbington. Jones may not be such a fan of his own lyrics today but he remains rightly in favour of the music, and a truly engaging theatrical vocal performance throughout will please his legions of fans.
