Bashovia (CD)
A profound guitar innovator and neglected folk hero, Robbie Basho studied with Ali Akbar Khan and began recording for John Fahey's influential Takoma Records in the fertile 1960s. Basho helped to created a six- and 12-string guitar genre before one even existed. His legacy has reached cult status, even inspiring another guitarist to adopt his method and put out six- and 12-string albums. BASHOVIA includes Basho's epic composition "The Falconer's Arm." Here, Basho is able to spread out fully, releasing an intricate combination of Asian and classical modalities.
