Dutch heavy metal group the GATHERING offers a progressive sound punctuated with the strong, haunting female vocals of Anneke van Giersbergen, which contrast beautifully with their dark, moody music. The band's '95 effort "Mandylion" heralded an innovative new force on the heavy metal scene, which the GATHERING has maintained with consistently rewarding work. This release features a '96 appearance in their native Holland, where they graced the stage in front of 75,000 fans at the Dynamo Festival.
