Live Cream clearly tops Studio Cream in some (not all) aspects, as it brings their sheer muscle to the surface which the studio recordings never quite captured. Though allegedly the loudest studio-band before Led Zeppelin, the recording equipment in the mid-sixties simply wasn't able to capture their massive sound. At this time, live recordings were usually still pretty hopeless as well, but at least they have the advantage of not having to sound as clean and polished as their studio counterparts. It's all the more notable that this 1968-recording holds up fairly well, and even with its sonic flaws would be sorely missed as a vital part representing what the band was about.
