Delicious 70s Japanese femme vox over orchestral funk, clearly in the mold of Dusty Springfield. Melodies have a few tinges of Olivia Newton John, but Yoshiko's voice is as heavyweight as it is smooth- it sits amid hissing hi-hats & gooey bass like a fat bolt of silk- and her phrasing control really gives the songs extra depth. A few moments of savage funk freakout & faux Indian sitar too. Her 2nd album with Kuni Kawauchi (Happenings Four, Tokyo Kid Brothers, Flower Travellin Band) on vibraphone. Tracklisting: Theme/Mother's Song/Hell of Mirrors, Spring, Silk Road, Desert Island, Land of Sleep, Like an Angel, Ship Adrift, Stowing Away.
