It's hard to believe that CACTUS PEYOTES is a Brazilian band ! You'll find no trace of symphonism common to numerous compatriots, or even Latine heat however usual under such latitudes. They offer us music removing and ruffling at the same time. Recorded in 2001, the eponymous album surprises thanks to the variety of styles used and to the frequency of rhythm changings. It is not rare to go from nice ballads to a heavy-metal storm, when it is not pure jazz or dynamic neo Progressive. Generally this nervous and glib Progressive rock can often be close to KING CRIMSON thanks to his possibility to use and abuse on dissonant guitar soli. If the major sonority remains quite far from the Red King's one, it still evokes Robert FRIPP and its accomplices. Besides keyboards are very present and contributes to set a speech which perfectly alternate between hot and cold on fire. A special mention to Marcus FERNANDEZ who knows how to consiliate vocal power and pertinency of the speech and disconcerting singing in English.
