Spriguns (as the Spriguns Of Tolgus was re-named after this album) was one of the best bands ever. And it is with this album that their 'magic' surely begins. At this time, the band was a quartet, and it was quite equal. It was not until Spriguns first album under their new shortened name the following year, that female singer Mandy Morton took control. The songs are almost purely traditional, and very folkish. Many comparsions to the early Steeleye Span has been made, and they were similar, but Spriguns (Of Tolgus), was quite unique, creating an intimate mood.
