Koi is a young 5 piece hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden. In 2001 Patrik and Markus planted the idea of starting a band.After some time Patrik started to jam with Eemu, playing acoustic guitars in Eemus parents basement and writing their first tunes. Through various school projects they met Joni and Roberd, united their projects and Koi was born. The band themselves say that, through out the years they have been influenced by: Porcupine Tree, Oceansize, Aerogramme, Beardfish and Opeth . Since the beginning of the new millennium we have seen a new type of prog rise. Bands like Mars Volta, Elbow, Liquid Scarlet, Pineapple Thief and Mew have one thing in common, they perform what we like to call progressive indie rock. Their music is often built on melancholic and/or aggressive atmospheres, compositions have their progressive twist and turns but are more focused on the feeling, melodies and harmonies rather than lengthy solo parts. Koi - In tomorrow hid yesterday is filled with emotional songs that should appeal to fans of both Mars Volta, Liquid Scarlet and perhaps Anekdoten as well. An exquisite debut album from an extraordinary talented young Swedish band.
